![]() ![]() With this year’s event done and dusted, in no particular order, we look back on the greatest Grammy performances of all time. While the early years were hit and miss, since the 2000s, the annual event has lifted its game and delivered, with all the top stars given the chance to memorize live on stage. ![]() The Grammys have thrown up some incredible live performances over the past six decades. Who can forget Michael Jackson sending the crowd wild with his Moonwalk while performing “Billie Jean” or Elton John and Eminem teaming up for a heartfelt rendition of “Stan?” Then there was the Bob Dylan “Soy bomb” incident and Kendrick Lamar’s powerful 2016 performance of “The Blacker The Berry” and “Alright.” ![]() The biggest and brightest stars in the music industry have wowed audiences across the globe with their live performances. Some of the best Grammy performances have come from unlikely artists or interesting duets. ![]() And while the event has certainly lost its luster over the years, with the awards losing their meaning, music fans still tune in to watch to see their favorite artists live. Since then the Grammys have moved to central Los Angeles (although the 2023 edition was held in New York to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop) with over 100 different awards handed out every year. Just 28 awards were handed out that year, with Henry Mancini taking out the coveted Album of the Year Award for The Music From Peter Gunn. The first ceremony was held simultaneously on May 4, 1959, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and the Park Sheraton Hotel in New York City, New York. Like the Oscars, the Grammys are held to recognize the greatest musicians and releases of each calendar year. For over 65 years the Recording Academy of the United States has been handing out Grammy Awards for the cream of the crop. ![]()
